Meet Tony

For more than thirty years, Tony L. Harris has provided motivation and inspiration to countless people. Using his life experiences as a former High School and Collegiate Athlete, Behavior Therapist, Spiritual Counselor, Athletic Coach, Speaker, Author and Sales Consultant, Life Coaching 1 on 1 represents a culmination of his body of work and the shared life experiences from thousands of clients and group participants of all ethnic backgrounds and diversities.

In 1976, Tony earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Texas Tech University, in Lubbock, Texas and three months later became a teacher and athletic coach in a small town in Texas. Then in 1979, he earned his Master of Education in Administration and Supervision from Stephen F. Austin State University, in Nacogdoches, Texas. One year later, Tony moved to Southern California and soon embarked upon a new career path - choosing to pursue his most intriguing and exciting area of study, “The Mind”.

In 1989, he successfully completed a two year study in the field of Clinical Hypnotherapy and earned the degree of Doctor of Philosophy, specializing in Hypnotherapy from American Institute of Hypnotherapy, in Santa Ana, California, now American Pacific University in Hawaii. Afterwards, Tony began working as a Clinical Hypnotherapist at The Beverly Hills Counseling Center (BHCC), in Beverly Hills, California. For the next few years, he worked closely with BHCC staff members and various mental health care professionals.

Tony says this was an opportunity of a lifetime and he is eternally grateful for the two partners at BHCC for providing him with this life changing opportunity. Tony says, “Having the opportunity to collaborate with a team of such high quality health care professionals allowed me the chance to truly sharpen my skills and discover my own unique style and methods as a behavior therapist and life coach.” He feels very fortunate to have been granted the privilege of working on numerous high profile cases during his tenure at BHCC.

In a very short period of time, Tony’s professional expertise included working with survivors of child abuse, victims of severe ritualistic abuse, patients with dissociative identity disorder (formerly known as multiple personality disorder), sexual abuse of a less violent nature, alcohol and drug addictions and clients with histories or presenting problems that are less traumatic such as quitting smoking, losing weight, pain and stress management, alleviating sleeping disorders, improving memory, passing exams, overcoming fears and phobias and improving athletic performance.

Tony says, “I have always enjoyed helping people and I have always been fascinated with the mind - how it works and its unlimited potential. This has been some of my most important life’s work and will continue to define me even after I’m gone.”

Over the years, Tony has worked with various groups and organizations such as Sickle Cell Disease Foundation of California, The Salvation Army, Safe Harbor, Harbor Light Center, WIN Foundation, NAACP of Los Angeles, Master Minds In Action, Toastmasters International, Disciples of Prosperity Men’s Group and various schools and churches. Currently, Tony is the producer and host of OLD SCHOOL DAD® Talk Radio.

In 2003, Tony moved from Southern California to Houston, Texas where he is raising his sons and doing his very best to be a good husband and father. He is now semi-retired as a clinical hypnotherapist but continues to work as a sales consultant and life coach professional. He now celebrates 30 years of being a member of the “helping profession”.

Note: I would be remiss if I didn’t mention that in a very elite and discreet circle…Tony has the secret reputation of being a real undercover “HITCH”. He has an exceptional track record in coaching “successful dating techniques” to men and women which ultimately has led to several great courtships and marriages.
